I am so freaking proud and happy with this piece. It turned out better than I'd ever envisioned. It started out with me wanting to paint a crow that looked irridescent and colorful. I found a reference photo with heightened saturation that was a great starting point for the exaggerated color of the piece. It all took off from there.
I'm ecstatic about the marble in the background. It was a big gamble, and I had no idea how it was going to look in the end, but wow, it really came together! I wasn't sure if red would be the right choice, but now I'm positive it was. My poor metallic gold paint marker breathed its last breath for this painting, and I really need to get another. I thank it for its sacrifice.
This might be my favorite painting to date. I love all my children, but this one is a real star, and I dedicate it to my favorite Star of all.
Painted in 2026 with acrylic paint markers on an 8x8" stretched canvas.
