I painted a few queer magnets to sell during Pride Month, and they did well! I've loved the concept of a shedding snake as a representation of transitioning for years, and it was so nice to finally make something with that theme. And it was lovely know that it was purchased as a gift for a trans person. I hope they loved it!
This was my first circle magnet, and let me tell you, keeping it upright on my easel was a TIME. The stars are still slightly rotated from where I wanted them originally, but I don't think it detracts from the piece. If you look closely, though, you can see the canvas fibers are tilted. That just makes it more queer, in my opinion.
The image in this project is not a raw scan, obviously, and that's because my scanner really blew out the light colors in it and I had a hard time restoring them. Also, of course, it's not a square magnet, and I wanted to put some color around it.
Painted in 2026 with acrylic paint markers on a circular 4" magnetic canvas.
