I dream of one day getting top surgery. Of blasting these bazongas clean off. They give me immense dysphoria by existing on my body. I don't recognize them as a part of me. They don't belong there. They never have. One day, I'll be able to save up for or get insurance to pay for a double mastectomy, or at least a massive reduction. Then I'll feel so much more at home within my body. I'll have the freedom to dress the way I want, present in public the way I want without immediately getting misgendered as female. All because these honkers cannot even be contained by a binder. I am constrained to be woman-shaped.
The prompt was "what does freedom mean to me?". That's it. All of the above text. I won't feel free until then. I won't feel safe until then (and even then...). My dream to be regarded as a bear in a dress will happen one day! It's just a very far away day.
This is a corrected scan, as the scanner once again blew out the light colors (specifically the light pink), and since this canvas was scanned at FedEx, I couldn't do any manual color correction on the spot. I took the scan home and that pink data was totally lost. So I manually added it back so it looks like it originally did. The tile and the skylight have artificial pink, and the pink was added back to the skin highlights, but that's as close to how the painting looks in real life as I could get it.
Yeah, the hair didn't turn out the way I wanted. The original sketch looked much better (doesn't it always?). I didn't feel like fixing it, so it now is what it is. This person has an extremely alt hairstyle, and I love that for them.
Painted in 2026 with acrylic paint markers on an 11x14" stretched canvas.
