The theme was "Surviving Summer". And my mind immediately went to "dog booties". And that was the spark for this painting! I wanted to paint fun, vibrant colors, and make something with a dynamic and interesting pose. It was hard finding good reference photos for this, but I liked having a challenge.
I learned a lot about perspectives and shadows while painting this. I've found it's not intuitive. Things look right that don't make sense to me, but that IS what it's supposed to look like!
The human form. I'm still self-conscious about my humans, but I think I'm getting better with every painting! One day I'll be as confident painting humans as I am painting animals.
Painted with acrylic paint markers on an 11x14 inch stretched canvas.
