Sun-Cat-Cher

This painting took some extra finessing. It's on a recycled canvas, and I had to re-gesso and re-sand it multiple times to get it to a workable state, and then the acrylic markers weren't as much of a fan of the gesso I used as they are of the pre-gessoed canvases you can buy at a store. For this reason, the finished product is more streaky than I'd normally be happy with. But I think it adds some character to it. It definitely adds to the cat, who has certainly never seen a suncatcher before! I used the technique of smudging white acrylic marker paint over the spots and streaks of light to make them look more pastel, and it came out well.

I haven't taken the time to make prints of this painting, but it sold at the State Fair, so I think there's a market for it!
